In the video below, a Marketing Team Leader from Whole Foods Market, Kelly Anne Beile, discussed the why and how behind social media marketing.  Her presentation was given to local business leaders in Lexington, KY during a roundtable discussion, which was hosted by Women Leading Kentucky.

Risk + Creativity

Risk.  As shown in the video below, Beile shared a personal and entertaining story to illustrate why it is crucial for businesses to employ social media marketing.  She proposed that if a business neglects to engage with its constituents in the social landscape it risks losing control over its reputation.  Beile explained that while online reputation management is a relatively new phenomenon, there are specific tactics that have proven to be successful for Whole Foods Market.

Creativity.  Namely, she noted that interjecting purposeful moments of creativity into Facebook posts has helped her Whole Foods Market’s store stand out against the local competition.  However, she specified that this tactic is most effective if the creativity is inspired not by the business, but by the customer.  In other words, Beile said that when she tweets, posts, and shares on social media platforms she purposefully gives her constituents original, creative content that reflects their needs, problems, and motivations.

Beile’s presentation was entertaining, yet informative.  She is professionally trained in theatre and holds a MBA from the University of Kentucky.  To book Belie to speak at your next event, reach out to her on Twitter: @KellyAnneBeile.
